Since 1980, Scrivener has served as McGill University’s leading arts and literature journal. We publish poetry and short fiction in English as well as photography and visual art. This year we are also excited to include comic panels and strips!

Submissions that do not follow the specifications below will not be considered.



Send a maximum of 5 poems per poet, at no more than 4 pages each, to

Attach each poem as a Word document (.doc, .docx) or a PDF in 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced.



Send a maximum of 4 stories per author, at no more than 2500 words each, to

In the body text of your submission email, please include your name, mailing address, and the title(s) of the work(s) you are submitting. Scrivener does accept simultaneous submissions, however we ask that you clearly specify if this is the case for any your titles. We also ask that you inform our editors immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere. Scrivener only accepts unpublished work.
