To our fellow McGillians and Montréalers,

We would like to have a word with you.

We are the editorial board for Scrivener Creative Review, McGill University’s long-running journal of arts and letters. We are a ragtag band of poets, writers, artists, and one computational chemist. We speak several dead languages, and a few living ones. We pet dogs recreationally, wash dishes professionally, and visit our grandmothers every chance we get. We also find time to publish issues packed with poetry, short fiction, photography and visual art.

Oh, and we’re recruiting editors. Did we mention that?

At Scrivener, our goal is to support and encourage talented creators, including those who have yet to be published, providing them with a platform and a likeminded community. We are looking for passionate, driven, dedicated people to help us achieve this goal. We are hiring one Fiction Editor, one Poetry Editor, and one Visual Art Editor to work with us on our 45th production cycle.

If you are interested in one or more of these positions, please check the specific guidelines for each position (Fiction, Poetry and Visual Art) and apply using the link on that page. Your application will include a cover letter (maximum of 500 words), CV and a writing sample (acceptable file formats: .doc, .pdf), and must be filled out by midnight on September 30th, 2019 (see countdown timer below). Please make sure you have carefully read the guidelines for this application. Selected candidates will proceed to an in-person interview.

Tell us about your passion for the arts and give us a sense of how you would fulfill the responsibilities of your desired editorial role(s)—more detailed descriptions of these positions can be found on the Fiction, Poetry and Visual Arts pages. In addition to these specific responsibilities, we expect all editors to attend team meetings and to reside in Montréal (no planned exchanges, etc.) for at least the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 terms.
